Maverick Male Icon...Sidney Poitier

It's another great week and day. Its Wednesday! Any person that's been following this blog, knows that Wednesday is what I consider Maverick Male Icon day. Today's spotlight is on Sidney Poitier. If you're reading this and wondering who this man is, let me educate you. He is a Bahamian-American actor, film director, author and diplomat. In 1964, Poitier became the first African American to win an Academy Award for Best Actor. He received this award for his role in Lilies of the Field. Poitier starred in three very successful films in 1967. Those films were: To Sir, with Love; In the Heat of the Night; and Guess Who's Coming To Dinner. It's very evident that Mr. Poitier was and still is a very successful as well as an accomplished actor. However, let's take a minute to talk about his sleek and timeless sense of style. This man exemplifies style in every essence of the word from head to toe on the screen and off the screen. I think every Maverick Man could look, listen, and learn what it truly means to be maverick and execute style by taking a minute to focus on Mr. Sidney Poitier. I Say Yes!

I love when a Maverick Man is not afraid to be daring by reaching into his closet for something colorful. A cardigan is that one staple piece that every man should own; even if it's sky blue.

Polos are another staple and classic piece that every Maverick Man should have hanging in his closet. Don't be afraid to have fun and pop the color.

I live by the principle that accessories complete the look. Check out this houndstooth newsboy cap.
